Water pollution is when water changes from being clean to being contaminated. Water is usually contaminated with many harmful substances such as viruses or bacteria etc.

Any change whether it is physical, chemical or biological can have a harmful effect on living things in the water. If water pollution occurs it can affect all major water bodies, such as lakes, rivers, and oceans. Water can leak from rivers and end up in oceans ; now we have more than one major water body contaminated.

Polluted water is very dangerous to drink as it can cause many waterborne diseases. It is not suitable for agricultural or industrial use, as it can harm more than just humans. It can also effect marine and plant life as well. Common waterborne diseases are diarrhea and typhoid.
