What is Thermal / Heat pollution ?
Thermal pollution is the most current pollution and it is a result of large scale globalization. Heavy industries produce large amounts of heat energy which is a major cause of this pollution. When different raw materials used in production undergo various chemical reactions, they produce a lot of heat energy as a waste product which is released into the atmosphere in the form of vapour and in the river system as liquid. This increases the temperature of the envrionment and causes thermal pollution. Other sources that lead to thermal pollution are : water as a cooling agent in industrial factories (degradation of water), deforestation of the shoreline, soil erosion and industries creating electricity from fossil fuels.
